New AXE Ad: NSFW

If there’s one thing we’ve learned over the years, it’s that teddy bears can sell anything. Toilet paper, fabric softener, a Mama Burger, you name it.

But what do you get when you take the teddy archetype, turn him into the star of the summer’s biggest blockbuster, and cast him in your campaign? One heck of an ROI coming your way!

Axe, the company responsible for how you smelt in grade 11, teamed up with Seth MacFarlane’s booze-hounding, weed-smoking, and fully-animated “Ted” for a series of TV commercials.

Ted, an R-rated bromedy (comedy for bros, of course),  about Mark Wahlberg and his talking teddy bear, earned over $120 million in its first 10 days, and MacFarlane, Axe, and even Ted had to be thrilled with the news.

Based on the history of Axe’s marketing  as well as the flavor of Ted, it should be no surprise that these commercials are controversial; I’d even go as far as to give them the dreaded NSFW stamp.

Laugh, cry, or get offended, but either way, tell us what you think about Axe’s latest ads. Bears sell, but so does sex.
