Viral Celebs in Advertising

You know and I know that it’s nearly impossible to MAKE something go viral.  Going viral is like falling in love. How do you know when you’re truly in love? You can’t plan for it, you can’t force it, but as they say: When it happens, you just know.

Just like Sweet Brown knew, when versions of a statement she gave to a local news station began popping up all over the Internet, she had become a viral sensation. You may remember her as the “Ain’t Nobody Got Time For That” lady, but Brown still claims she’s just normal woman, who really loves cold pop.

But today, this Average Jane has become something much more. Sweet Brown is now a spokesperson.

A local dentist’s office approached Brown to do a commercial for them, and the result is… well, you can see for yourself.

This is not the first time a viral character has been asked to promote a brand, product, or service. Psy, that dude who sings Gangnam Style, has starred in a commercial for pistachios. Yes, folks, he’s finally arrived.

Have a peek at the commercial below, and let us know, is using a “Viral Celeb” a smart move for advertisers? Considering the fact that Miss Brown appears to have never seen a dentist before in her life, was she the right choice? And would the “David After Dentist” kid have been better for role? Sound off below!
