Facebook Home Arrives
It’s a phone, it’s a cloud, it’s Facebook Home! The much rumoured Facebook Phone had people wondering just what the ‘Facebook Announcement’ would entail. Then, when Facebook Home launched last week it was received with much excitement and confusion.
Facebook Home is not an operating system but a family of apps including Facebook, Messenger, and Instagram that run on the Google OS. Zuckerberg said that ‘Home puts people first instead of apps and makes an Android phone a social device’. Here’s a breakdown on some details…
Facebook Home Features:
Images and status updates are showcased in a feed much like a mobile screen saver.
Think Facebook chat that can pop up regardless of what app you’re using, with little picture bubbles of your friends.
App launcher allows you to launch any app, any time.
We expect a more accurate product experience once Android users can download the software on April 12th. The decision to utilize Android only for the launch, and feature AT&T pre-order within the Facebook Home hub, is an interesting partnership strategy on Facebook’s part.
We’re excited for more user feedback, phone sales, and any future implications this new innovation with have on Facebook’s mobile advertising.
