Uber & the Ice Cream Truck!

Uber Toronto stopped by @communityagency with an ICE CREAM TRUCK! #ubericecream

This afternoon Community staffers were surprised with a visit from the Uber Ice Cream truck. With Toronto’s temperatures well above seasonal this week, taking advantage of the weather with a frozen treat was smart marketing move.  It was also perfect timing for Uber to create positive brand engagement after a recent price surge during a Toronto storm last week caused a ‘flood’ of negative attention.


Today Uber encouraged fans, friends, and followers, to book an ice cream truck through their taxi app and share their experience on Twitter with the hashtag #ubericecream. For $30 you were delivered five orders of ice cream from the truck with Uber Swag and the charge was added to your existing Uber account.

This was a  global initiative as Uber  brought on-demand ice cream to 33 cities in 10 countries. As of 3:30pm today the hashtag #ubericecream had 23.1 million estimated impressions from 5,451 Twitter mentions by 3,711 users (Sysomos data).
