The holidays are a time for celebrating, exchanging gifts and, of course, connecting with your nearest and dearest. This holds true for brands who leverage the spirit of the season by giving back to consumers in the form of contests, sweepstakes, premiums and price rollbacks while showcasing their latest and greatest products and services.

This year more than ever,  marketers will rely on social and mobile apps to spread the word about special holiday offers. Consumers rejoice across the board and embrace this time of year to opt in for a special surprise.  A grown up version of Santa Claus – only this gift all comes down to chance.

A variety of push and pull marketing tactics are used to entice new leads & activate frequent consumers. The ease and convenience of online shopping continues to become more appealing each year as the practice gains more of the public’s trust and the industry’s marketshare. Purchase incentives such as free shipping and social media integrations have increased the most in 2013 vs. 2012 for marketing holiday activity, a response to the snowballing participation by consumers, no doubt.

An eMarketer study found that mobile devices are the main device for US & Canadian mothers deal hunting at brick-and-mortar stores—56% said they would use their mobile devices to track down discounts or coupons, while 50% planned to do price comparisons in real time.
