Aug…VELD Long Weekend.
Every year, the August Long weekend marks one of the biggest parties of the year. 38,000 fans made their way to VELD music festival at Downsview Park, which has become the EDM stage all the biggest names want to play in Toronto (as well as Digital Dreams).
Last year, hometown favourite Deadmau5 was the big attraction. Not to be outdone, 2014’s edition featured trance legend Armin Van Buuren and this year’s biggest DJ – Calvin Harris to headline the main stage. Community was there with BACARDI all weekend long, watching the spectacle unfold from some of the best seats in the house.
With the mud claiming many pairs of shoes and sandals, the BACARDI Cabana was the spot to be in the rain soaked park this weekend. From the first drop, to the last pyro blast, the Bat Girls and our fans meant the party never stopped.
The BACARDI Stage housed some of the heaviest sounds of the weekend, dropping bass on all the fans who didn’t mind raving in the sand. By the end of the weekend, the fans were just as dirty as the beats.
Iggy Azalea became the act to see, as fans flocked to catch her super popular song “Fancy.” We were lucky, and got up close and personal with the new classic herself.
On social media, VELD generated an estimated 5.9 million impressions. Not bad for a music festival outside the city, on a military airstrip, with no cell reception.
We said it before and we’ll say it again. What a party! And we can’t wait to do it all over again with Bacardi next year!
We had house and dubstep, sweltering heat and down-pouring rain. What what your favourite VELD Fest moment?
